Curricular Practical Training- CPT
International students only need to apply for CPT if they are doing an internship while physically inside the U.S. Students working on CPT may only work part time (20 hours or less per week) while school is in session. Full-time (more than 20 hours per week) work is permissible during school breaks.
To be eligible you must be an F-1 student who
-
has been in F-1 status continuously for one full academic year (fall, wintersession and spring terms)
-
is a currently enrolled student with a declared major
-
has an approved internship
-
is earning academic credit for their internship
To Apply for CPT

Register your internship in Artworks

Complete the CPT Canvas Modules (REQUIRED). Self-enroll by clicking on the button below:
3. Complete the ISSA CPT Application Checklist online, and upload the following documents:

Passing final quiz score from the CPT Canvas Modules

Copy of:
-
Current Form I-20
-
Passport ID page
-
Current F-1 visa
-

Most recent I-94 record obtained on the Customs and Border Protection I-94 website.

Job Offer/Internship Letter from employer - MUST be on company letterhead and MUST include the following:

Start date and end date of employment

Job responsibilities (related to your major)

Number of hours per week you will work

Employer contact information

If everything is complete, we will keep the documents and an international student advisor will approve your Artworks application and process your request for CPT.
Please plan ahead. This process can take up to two weeks.
