Optional Practical Training- OPT
To be eligible you must be an F-1 student who
-
has been in F-1 status continuously for one full academic year (fall, wintersession and spring terms)
-
is currently enrolled or recently graduated
-
if graduated, USCIS must receive your application within 60 days of your completion date
How can I apply for OPT?
Complete the OPT Modules in Canvas (Required). This course walks you through the online submission of the OPT application. You can access the course through the link below:
Gather the following materials:

Form I-765
-
Online Submission: Create USCIS account and complete online I-765
-

Copies of any previous Forms I-20 with CPT or OPT authorization
-
Copy of your passport ID page
-
Copy of your current F-1 visa
-
I-94 record obtained from the Department of Homeland Security website
-
If you have had OPT before, a copy of your EAD card
-
A U.S. passport-style photograph (2"x2") taken within the last month and not used on any previous government documents
-
$410 application fee
-
Online Submission: credit card/online payment

Once you have all of the items above, complete the OPT I-20 Request Form & Checklist below. You will need to upload the documents above to this form:
We will review your online application for completeness and issue your new I-20 with OPT recommendation to submit to USCIS. Keep in mind that your application will be reviewed by USCIS and can take three to five months to process.
